Date Issued: 29 December 2004
Mountain Cedar Location(s): Edwards Plateau, Texas
Regional Weather: Wednesday
and Thursday, Dec 29 and 30. TX/OK: Mild temperatures continue throughout the region for the next
few days. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy and chances of rain increase later this week. Patchy fog and mist
over eastern regions of the Edwards Plateau should lift this afternoon. Daytime highs both Wednesday and Thursday
from the mid to upper 60s in the north to low 70s in the south. Lows tonight will be in the 50s. Southerly winds
will be moderate with gusts throughout the region.
Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories from the
Edwards Plateau move to the north and northeast Wednesday and Thursday. Trajectories show mixed conditions that
are less than ideal for entrainment and travel of pollen downwind. At the source, conditions for pollen release
should be favorable this afternoon after patchy fog lifts.Temperatures are in the favorable range throughout the
Plateau.Overnight temperatures will be in the 50s tonight with temperatures on Thursday into the mid to upper 70s
across the Plateau. Possibility of patchy fog again tonight tomorrow morning. Chance of rain increase on Thursday
in some areas.
OUTLOOK: *** Moderate to High Threat *** Mostly favorable conditions for
pollen release. Patchy fog across the Plateau should lift this afternoon. This should allow for pollen release
in the afternoon. Since the trees are nearing their peak release period significant amounts of pollen release
might be expected in areas where the fogs lifts early. Conditions on Thursday are similar with patchy fog
that may delay pollen release to afternnon hours.
Trajectory Start (s) (shown by *
