Date Issued: 17 December 2006

Mountain Cedar Location(s): Edwards Plateau, Texas

Regional Weather: Sun, Dec 17. TX/OK: A cold front moves through Oklahoma today brining cooler temperatures and cloudy skies. Temperatures to the south and east of the front will remain mild in the mid to upper 60s to mid 70s with southwest winds. Behind the front temperatures will run about 10 degrees colder and winds shifting and from the northwest. A chance of precipitation occurs late tonight and Monday in Oklahoma. Temperatures on Monday will be about 15 to 20 degrees colder throughout the state. In Texas, mild conditions continue with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s with clear to partly cloudy skies and light to moderate SE winds.

Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories from the Edwards Plateau Texas move to the north today and then shift to the east under the influence of the frontal system in Oklahoma. The trajectories show moderate characteristics for entrainment and travel. Conditions at the source areas are warm but humidity is high throughout the region which may limit pollen dispersal.

OUTLOOK: *** Moderate to High Threat *** Conditions are good for pollen release and significant release may occur in many areas. However humidity is somewhat elevated and this many limit dispersal. Pollen concentrations near source area might me high but only moderate downwind.

Trajectory Start (s) (shown by * on map): Austin, TX; Junction, TX; San Angelo, TX.
