Date Issued: 20 December 2006

Mountain Cedar Location(s): Edwards Plateau, Texas

Regional Weather: Wed and Thurs, Dec 20 and 21. TX/OK: Scattered showers are likely throughout the Oklahoma-Texas region during the day today. Daytime temperatures today will range from the mid to upper 50s in Oklahoma to the upper 60s to low 70s in Texas. Night time temperatures will range from the mid 30s to low 40s. Winds will be generally from the south but shifting to west northwest in Texas during the early afternoon. A dry Pacific air mass will move into the area tonight bringing drier and slightly cooler temperatures tomorrow. Thursday will see clear to partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the 50s in Oklahoma and 60s in Texas. Winds will be variable across the region on Thursday with moderate south to southwest winds in Oklahoma and northwest winds in Texas.

Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories from the eastern side of the Edwards Plateau Texas move to the south, southeast today. The trajectories from the western side of the plateau move to the east and then turn northeast. The trajectories show poor characteristics for entrainment and travel. Thursday's trajectories begin moving east, then southeast but then circle around toward the north, northwest with only slightly better characteristics for pollen dispersal.

OUTLOOK: ***
Low today/Moderate to High tomorrow ***
Although temperatures are in the range, the rain and high humidity will retard pollen release today. Pollen release is more likely to occur tomorrow as the trees dry out.
