Date Issued: 26 Dec 2006

Mountain Cedar Location(s): Arbuckle Mountains, OK

Regional Weather: Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec 26 and 27. TX/OK: The region warms back up over the next few days. There will be clear to partly cloudy skies on Tuesday with temperatures in the 50s in Oklahoma and upper 50s to mid 60s in Texas. Winds will be light and shifting from northwest winds to southerly winds by afternoon. Lows Tuesday night will be in the 30s. On Wednesday skies will be partly cloudy throughout the region with moderate to gusty southerly winds. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s in Oklahoma and mid to upper 60s in Texas.

Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories move from the Arbuckle Mountains to the northeast today and then curve back to northwest. Winds are light and the trajectories are not ideal for down wind dispersal. Condition at the source in the Arbuckle Mountains are cold this morning but will warm into the favorable range for pollen release by early afternoon. Wednesday's trajectories move to the north and show slightly better dispersal characteristics. Conditions at the source on Wednesday will be cool in the morning but warming quickly into the favorable range for pollen release

OUTLOOK: *** Moderate to High Threat today / High tomorrow *** Favorable conditions for pollen release this afternoon. Sunny dry conditions will occur today, and temperatures will warm this morning and reach the favorable range by early afternoon; however, the winds will be light reducing downwind dispersal. Pollen levels are likely to be high near the mountain cedar populations. Downwind dispersal is more likely tomorrow with strong southerly winds.

Trajectory Start (s) (shown by black star on map): Sulfur, OK.
