Date Issued: 26 December 2006
Mountain Cedar Location(s): Edwards Plateau, Texas
Regional Weather: Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec 26 and 27.
TX/OK: The region warms back up over the next few days. There will be clear to partly cloudy skies on Tuesday
with temperatures in the 50s in Oklahoma and upper 50s to mid 60s in Texas. Winds will be light and shifting from
northwest winds to southerly winds by afternoon. Lows Tuesday night will be in the 30s. On Wednesday skies will
be partly cloudy throughout the region with moderate to gusty southerly winds. Temperatures will be in the upper
50s in Oklahoma and mid to upper 60s in Texas.
Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories from the
Edwards Plateau move to the north, northeast over central Texas and Oklahoma. Each of the trajectories shows only
moderate characteristics for downwind dispersal. Conditions at the sources will be cool this morning but quickly
warming into the favorable range by noon today. The trees are nearing the peak of the pollen release season therefore
significant release may be expected but winds are light and pollen levels will be highest near the source. Wednesday's
trajectories move to the north with moderate to gusty winds. Cool temperatures in the morning will warm by noon
allowing for significant pollen release.
OUTLOOK: *** High risk *** Favorable conditions for pollen release by early
afternoon. Pollen levels likely to be high throughout the source area. Winds will be light somewhat limiting downwind
dispersal this afternoon. Winds will be picking up tomorrow and downwind travel will be more likely. Significant
pollen levels can be expected.
Trajectory Start (s) (shown by *
