Taylor et al. 2002.
The authors showed the release of micronic and submicronic
allergenic particles from rye grass and Bermuda grass pollen following
humidifying, wetting, and drying of grass flowers within an experimental
chamber. This suggests that in the natural environment pollen allergens can be
released directly from the flower after rainfall and drying and thus provides
the possible link between grass pollen and asthma epidemics.
