Mountain Cedar Pollen Forecast

Regional Weather: Friday, January 24 TX/OK/AR:  Conditions across the forecast region will be once again influenced by the current push of arctic air coming from the north.  Clouds have been building over western Texas and will result in partly cloudy to mostly cloudy conditions across the region today with cold temperatures as far south as San Antonio, Texas.  Todays highs will be in the low 30s around Dallas to the mid 40s on the southern edge of the Edwards Plateau.  Winds will be from the south to southeast and light and moderate resulting in colder wind chill conditions. Overnight temperatures will moderate from last nights conditions to just around freezing in the north and the upper 30s to the south.  A warm up will begin for Saturday, with temperatures reaching the low 50s and even warmer weather expected on Sunday.  To the north in Oklahoma high temperatures today will just get above freezing with partly to mostly cloudy conditions and moderate winds from the south.  Temperatures overnight will dip into the upper 20s then warm to the upper 30s and low 40s on Saturday.

 

There are no air mass trajectories today because of a computer problem.  However, temperatures across the region will remain cold for pollen release with highs expected only in the upper 30s today.  Winds will be light to moderate from the south to southeast.  Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy across the region but humidity will be in the low to moderate range.  Overnight temperatures will be in the upper twenties across the region.  Warmer conditions will occur on Saturday with temperatures in the upper 40s but humidity will be high and cloudy conditions are expected.  Moderate winds will blow from the south.

 

OUTLOOK: *** Low Threat Today *** Unfavorable Conditions for Pollen release. Partly cloudy skies, cold temperatures and high humidity result in unfavorable conditions for pollen release within the Arbuckle Mountain population.  High temperatures today will be in the mid 30s.  There are no trajectories because of a computer problem but conditions at the source site are poor for release.  In addition, the trees should be nearing the end of their pollination season so the amount of pollen left to be dispersed is trailing off.  The poor weather conditions at the source site lead to a low threat for downwind entrainment and travel of pollen today.
