Date Issued: 14 Jan 2005
Mountain Cedar Location(s): Arbuckle Mountains, OK
Regional Weather: Fri, Sat, and Sun, Jan 14 - 16. TX/OK:
A cold high pressure system has moved in over the region, and reinforcing fronts will keep low temperatures in
place for the next several days. Coldest conditions will be in northern Oklahoma. Daytime highs will be in the
20s and 30s in Oklahoma and the 50s in Texas. Night time lows will be in the teens and 20s in Oklahoma and the
upper 20s and low 30s in Texas. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with low to moderate winds. Winds will be
from the north in northern Oklahoma; wind direction will be variable in southern Oklahoma and Texas..
Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories on Friday
move from the Arbuckle Mountains to the northwest and then turn east. Trajectoris for Saturday and Sunday show
air mass movement to the southwest and then shifting to the northeast and north. Partly to mostly cloudy skies
will prevail across the region but low temperatures will occur at the source site today with below freezing conditions
expected overnight.
OUTLOOK: *** Low to Moderate Threat Friday/ Low Saturday and Sunday *** mixed conditions for pollen release Friday, unfavorable Saturday and Sundy. Sunny dry
conditions will occur today, but temperatures just getting into the low 40s will reduce
the chance of any significant pollen release making for mixed conditions. Cold
temperatures tonight and contined low day time temperatures expected Saturday and Sunday. With cold, dry conditions
little release is expected and therefore a low threat exists from Arbuckle populations. However, trajectories from
the Texas populations may bring some pollen into Oklahoma for a low to moderate threat.
Trajectory Start (s) (shown by black
star on map): Sulfur, OK.
