Date Issued: 17 January 2005
Mountain Cedar Location(s): Edwards Plateau, Texas
Regional Weather: Monday and Tuesday, Jan 17 and 18.
TX/OK: Gradual warming temperatures over the next few days as the arctic air mass slowly releases its hold
on the region. Daytime highs on Monday will be in the 30s in Oklahoma and the 40s and 50s in Texas. Nighttime lows
will be in the 20s and 30s. Tuesday will be a little warmer with highs in the 40s and 50s throughout the region.
Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy both Monday and Tuesday. Winds will be low to moderate from the southeast
or south in Oklahoma and from the east or southeast in Texas. Wednesday will see temperatures at or above normal
throughout the region.
Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories from the
Edwards Plateau move to the northwest and then turn northeast. Conditions at the sources will be cold today but
dry with partly to mostly cloudy skies. The cold temperatures should discourage it reduce pollen release
today but with a greater chance tomorrow.
OUTLOOK: *** Moderate Threat ***
Mixed conditions for pollen release. Partly cloudy skies skies but cold temperatures result in mixed conditions for pollen release today. Since the trees are still in their peak release
period pollen release might be expected in sheltered areas where localized temperatures may be greater. However,
overall the cold conditions should restrain significant release today with a greater chance of pollen release tomorrow.
Trajectory Start (s) (shown by *
