Date Issued: 3 January 2005
Mountain Cedar Location(s): Edwards Plateau, Texas
Regional Weather: Monday and Tuesday, Jan 3 and 4. TX/OK:
Mild temperatures continue in the region on Monday along with scattered showers and thuderstorms. Rain will be
heavy in some areas with chance of flooding. Patchy fog will also occur. Daytimes highls on Monday will be in the
upper 50s in Oklhoma and in the 70s in Texas. Tuesday's highs will be in the mid 40s to mid 50s in Oklahoma and
60s and 70s in Texas.
Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories from the
Edwards Plateau move to the north and northeast. Temperatures are mild across the plateau but scattered showeres
and thunderstorms are likely in the area. The trees are nearing the peak of the pollen release season; therefore,
pollen release may occur in areas that stay dry over the next few days.
OUTLOOK: *** Mixed conditions for pollen release *** The likelihood of scattered
showers and thunderstorms in the region results in mixed conditions for pollen release in Texas. Since the
trees are nearing their peak release period significant amounts of pollen release might be expected in areas that
remain dry. As a result High Threat continues in areas that
remain dry with a Low to Moderate Threat in areas with
rain.
Trajectory Start (s) (shown by *
on map): Austin, TX; Junction, TX; San Angelo, TX.
