Date Issued: 28 January 2006

Mountain Cedar Location(s):
Arbuckle Mountains, OK

Regional Weather:
Sat and Sun, Jan 28 and 29. TX/OK: Scattered rain and thunderstorms on Saturday. Clearing will occur on Saturday afternoon from the west. Highs on Saturday in the low 60s in Oklahoma and the low 70s in Texas with moderate to strong and gusty southwest to westerly winds. Overnight lows from the upper 30s to mid 40s. Sunday will have clear to partly cloudy skies with daytime highs in the 60s in Oklahoma and the 70s in Texas. Winds will be moderate from the west shifting to northwest winds late on Sunday. Mild temperatures will continue on Monday but will be about 5 degrees cooler than Sunday.

Trajectory weather:
The air mass trajectories move from the Arbuckle Mountains to the northeast over northeastern Oklahoma and Missouri. Heavy rain on Saturday at the source areas along with high humidity will inhibit pollen release. Trajectories on Sunday begin moving to the east then turn to southeast. Conditions at the source may still be too wet for significant pollen release. Also Sunday’s trajectories are not ideal for pollen transport.

OUTLOOK: ***
Low threat ***
Conditions are poor for pollen release today but better on Sunday; however, the trajectories are not ideal for transport. Pollen released on Sunday may stay close to the mountain cedar population area.

Trajectory Start (s) (shown by black star on map): Sulfur, OK.
