Date Issued: 7 Jan 2007

Mountain Cedar Location(s): Arbuckle Mountains, OK

Regional Weather: Sun and Mon, Jan 7 and 8. TX/OK: Clear to partly cloudy skies with mild day time temperatures and cool nights will be in place over the next few days in the Oklahoma-Texas region. Day time highs today in Oklahoma will range from the upper 40s to mid 50s and from the mid 50s to upper 60s in Texas. Winds today will be moderate to strong and gusty from the northwest. Lows tonight will range from the 20s to low 30s. Highs on Monday will be in the mid 50s in Oklahoma and the 60s in Texas. The area will be less windy on Monday with moderate west or southwest winds.

Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories move from the Arbuckle Mountains to the southeast over eastern Oklahoma and east Texas. The trajectories are associated with a cool sinking air and show poor to moderate characteristics for entrainment and travel. Temperatures in the Arbuckles are cold this morning but should warm quickly with the clear sunny skies and should be in the favorable range by noon. Trajectories on Monday begin moving to the east and then turn southeast. Again the trajectories are not ideal for entrainment and travel. Overnight temperatures will be low tonight but should warm by early afternoon and be in the favorable range.

OUTLOOK: *** Moderate to High threat *** Conditions will be favorable for pollen release this afternoon and Monday afternoon. Trajectories are not ideal for downwind dispersal and most of the pollen will remain close to mountain cedar populations

Trajectory Start (s) (shown by black star on map): Sulfur, OK.
