Date Issued: 18 January 2008
Mountain Cedar Location(s): Arbuckle Mountains, OK
Regional Weather: Friday, Jan 18. TX/OK: Cool
temperatures continue. Lows Friday morning will be in the low 20s in Oklahoma and upper 20s to low 30s in Texas.
Daytime highs will be in the 40s across the region. In Oklahoma, skies will be partly cloudy with moderate southwest
winds in the morning. Later in the day winds will shift to northwest as another frontal system moves across the
state. In Texas skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of rain occurring in central and southern Texas.
Winds will be light and variable shifting to north winds in most parts of the state.
Trajectory weather: The air mass trajectories from the Arbuckle Mountains move to the north briefly, then
turn south over central and east Texas on northerly winds as the next cold front moves into the state. The trajectories
show moderate characteristics for entrainment, but cold temperatures at the source area today will sharply curtail
any pollen release.
OUTLOOK: *** Low Threat today ***unfavorable conditions for pollen release.
Temperatures just getting into the mid 40s will reduce the chance of any significant pollen release making for
unfavorable conditions. Any pollen that is release will move into Texas this afternoon.
Trajectory Start (s) (shown by black
star on map): Sulfur, OK.
