Regional Weather: Thursday, January 7– TX/OK: Across the region the weather will be cold with high temperatures in the 20s and 30s today and tomorrow. In Oklahoma skies will be partly cloudy north and partly clear to partly sunny in northern Texas and southern most Oklahoma. Further south mostly cloudy skies will prevail. Throughout the region strong northerly winds will occur today slackening towards the evening and overnight. Winds will be from 15 to 25 miles per hour in most region with gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Tonight temperatures will be in the single digits in the north and into the teens across the Edwards Plateau. The surrounding communities of Austin and San Antonio are expected to be in the lower 20s. Tomorrow partly cloudy to partly sunny skies will occur across Oklahoma and northern Texas. On the Edwards Plateau mostly cloudy skies will prevail. Temperatures will remain in the mid 20s to mid 30s for the HIGH and drop back into the teens overnight, on Friday night. Winds will continue from the north except on Friday night when sites on the Edwards Plateau begin to turn from a northerly flow to a southwesterly flow at light wind strengths.

Trajectory weather: Conditions today will be cold with strong winds from the north and gusts around 40 miles per hour. Temperatures will be in the 30s across most of the region. Some areas south of the Edwards Plateau may reach the lower 40s. Tonight temperatures are expected to be in the teens and lower 20s. Tomorrow high temperatures will again barely get into the 30s at the warmer locations. The Edwards Plateau will be in the 20s. Friday night low temperatures will be in the teens throughout the region.

OUTLOOK: *** Low Threat today; Low threat tomorrow *** Poor conditions for pollen release today and Poor conditions tomorrow; Poor conditions for entrainment and transport today, Poor conditions tomorrow. Cold temperatures today, tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night will be frigid. No pollen release is expected because of the weather conditions for the next two days. Winds will be strong and the atmosphere will be heavy flowing near the ground. Friday night on the Edwards Plateau winds will begin to turn as warmer conditions begin to build towards next week. With no pollen expected to be released to the atmosphere conditions for entrainment and travel are of minor importance.
