Regional Weather: Friday, January 8– TX/OK: Across the region the weather will continue cold with high temperatures in the 20s and 30s today and warming into the lower 40s across Texas tomorrow. In Oklahoma skies will be sunny and mostly sunny in northern Texas. Further south partly cloudy skies will prevail after mostly cloudy skies across the Edwards Plateau lighten this morning. High temperatures in Oklahoma will be around 20 degrees, whereas southward across the Plateau they will be in the low 30s. In the surrounding communities highs will be in the mid to upper 30s. Strong winds yesterday will relax to moderate levels in most places from the north. Higher wind strengths are expected in the communities surrounding the Edwards Plateau. Tonight temperatures will be in the single digits north and across the Edwards Plateau warming to the teens in north Texas and the communities surrounding the Plateau. Winds will continue from the north and will be light to moderate. Saturday will remain cold but will warm by 5 to 10 degrees. Oklahoma is expected to be in the low 20s to low 30s. Most regions in Texas will be in the mid 40s with the southernmost areas in the upper 40s. Skies will be sunny and clear, winds will be moderate turning from the northeast to the southeast and south. Saturday night low temperatures return to single digits in central Oklahoma and into the upper teens in the remaining areas.

Trajectory weather: Conditions today will continue cold with moderate winds from the north. Skies will be mostly cloudy to partly cloudy across the region. The mostly cloudy skies over the Edwards Plateau are expected to thin through the day to partly cloudy conditions. Winds will be from the north at moderate levels today and tonight. Tomorrow winds will begin in southern areas to turn coming from the south across the Edwards Plateau. Other regions will remain with light winds tomorrow night from the northeast. Temperatures will be in the low 30s across most of the region today. Tonight temperatures will be in the single digits across the Edwards Plateau and in the teens in areas surrounding the Plateau. Tomorrow temperatures are expected to warm into the lower 40s, but tomorrow night temperatures will dip back into the teens.

OUTLOOK: *** Low Threat today; Low threat tomorrow *** Poor conditions for pollen release today and Poor conditions tomorrow; Poor conditions for entrainment and transport today, Poor conditions tomorrow. Cold temperatures today, tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night will be frigid. No pollen release is expected because of the weather conditions for the next two days. Winds will be moderate and the atmosphere will be heavy flowing near the ground. Saturday night on the Edwards Plateau winds will begin to turn as warmer conditions begin to build towards next week. With no pollen expected to be released to the atmosphere conditions for entrainment and travel are of minor importance.
