Regional Weather: Friday, February 05 – TX/OK: Warming temperatures and calming conditions will occur across the region today. Skies to the north in Oklahoma will be cloudy with moderate winds north and light and variable winds along the border with Texas. To the south across Texas, cloudy skies will begin the day but partly sunny skies will occur during the day away from the Edwards Plateau. Winds will be moderate to light from the northwest. Temperatures in Oklahoma will be in the mid 40s to 50, whereas in Texas most regions will get into the 60s. Tonight partly cloudy skies will occur across the area. Temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s in Oklahoma and in Texas drop into the mid to upper 30s in most areas. Urban areas surrounding the Plateau will only drop into the 40s. Winds will remain light from the north and northwest off of the Plateau where in the western areas they will be from the southeast. Saturday will be mostly to partly cloudy across Oklahoma and the Edwards Plateau. In the surrounding areas partly to mostly sunny skies will occur. Temperatures will return to the 40s north and upper 50s to 60s across Texas. Winds will be light in most areas from the north and northeast. Across the Edwards Plateau winds will be moderate from the southeast. Saturday night partly to mostly cloudy skies will prevail. Temperatures will be similar to Friday nights and winds will remain light to moderate from the northeast in most areas and southeast across the Plateau.

OUTLOOK: *** Low threat today; Low threat tomorrow *** Poor conditions for pollen release today and Poor conditions tomorrow; Poor conditions for entrainment and transport today, Poor conditions tomorrow. All indications are that the trees have finished their pollination period. Inspection of trees across the Plateau found dropping cones. This is our final forecast for this Juniperus ashei pollination period. We will begin forecasting again next year just after the Thanksgiving holiday. Check the website at that time.
