Cypress-Palmetto
Two genera mentioned in hay fever literature are bald cypress and palmetto, both occurring in the extreme southeast. If it were not for their presence, this relatively small zone would have been included with the previous one. The land is now being modified to create tame pasture for grazing. Draining the bayous and swamps and the harvesting of cypress for lumber have greatly reduced the abundance of both species.
